Bertomeu: The Goodyear league is a consolidated and stable project
In my article for the Official Guide of the Goodyear Adriatic League for the 2003-04 season with the title "The league that grows", I said some things that were confirmed throughout the season. This doesn't mean that I am a prophet because it wasn't VERY difficult to predict some of the things based on facts. And the facts cannot be denied: the League grows, the quality grows, the interest of the media and the fans also grows. After three years it is self-evident that it is a consolidated and stable project in any sense.
We are very happy with the fact that 9 of the 14 teams of the Goodyear Adriatic League have taken place this season in the two competitions organized by the ULEB. It is another evidence of our close relationship. I also want to remind all that in the Assembly celebrated in February in Bled, one of the four vice-president spots of the ULEB was for the Goodyear Adriatic League together with the leagues of Italy, France and Germany.
Also, I want to highlight the sporting role that the
teams of the Final Four have had in our competitions.
Three of the four have achieved solid results. Cibona
VIP of Zagreb and Union Olimpija of Ljubljana advanced
to the Top 16, while Reflex of Belgrade reached the
ULEB Cup semifinals with an impressive performance.
Red Star, a debuting team in our competitions, fought
for the ULEB Cup elimination round suntil the last game
of the regular season. These four teams guarantee good
basketball and a top-notch show in the Drazen Petrovic
arena of Zagreb.
