History

Working suburb of Belgrade called Zeleznik is a home for BC Reflex which recently made it`s biggest success in Europe by entering the final phase off the ULEB Cup.

In 1995 BC Reflex, than known by the name FMP železnik, earned the promotion into the elite club competition of Yugoslavia, and was never relegated since. In that year also, after almost two decades, the roads of two men colided again at the same place. Those two men are coach Bosko Djokić and dr Neboša Čović, long time club president, former player and long time captain, also a highly respected bussinesman and politican, until recently deputy Prime Minister of Serbia. In the second half of the 70`s they were among many enthusiasts that formed the club as a section of a local worker`s association in Železnik. The exact date of the foundation is 26th of March 1975.

From it`s humble beginings Reflex grew into a stable and well organized club. In the 70`s the hall was in reality a gym of the local elementary school. Near the school now stands the »FMP Zeleznik« hall, a true fortress that survived the attacks of the many famous conquerers in recent years.

First trophy Reflex won in 1997. Final tournament of the National Cup was played in Nis, the same place wil be the center stage of Panther`s brilliance in 2003 also. After an easy win over Iva from Šabac, Reflex defeated the famous Partizan comfortably – 105:92. MVP of the game and the whole tournament was Goran Boskovic, the team captain in those days. Six years later the same trophy was raised at the same place by the hands of Goran Nikolić, skipper for several years in Reflex. The team was coached by present coach Vlade Đjurović who at that point was leading the Panthers for less than one month.

Reflex got closest to wining the title in 1998 but lost the play-off final to Red Star (1-2). The same result was matched last year but this time Partizan swept the team from Zeleznik by cool 3 to nothing. Also last year in ULEB cup Reflex was the most succesfull team in the league competition by winning 9 out of 10 matches. It was stopped in the quarterfinals by Joventut, but a year later found it`s sweet revenge.

Club is famous for outstanding results of the youth categories. It has two side clubs, one in Belgrade and one in Čačak. The high club official is honorable Ratko Raša Radovanović, a Serbian basketball legend and a man who as a player won every trophy that can be one in a proffesional career.
