DEJAN MILOJEVIĆ
About the former Reflex captain, now the leader of Budućnost Podgorica, maybe the best description is his knickname – Serbian Barkley. A great fighter, never a quiter, hardesr worker of all and it is work that got him as far as one can go. As a member of tha national team he won the gold medal in the 2001 European Championship in Turkey.
Although he played his best games so far in Podgorica, Milojević ows a lot to Reflex. It`s in Železnik that he got his full afirmation, the real chance, as a young player. Many thought on his debut that such a »short« guy (198 cm) cannot play power forward, but the lack in centimetres Milojević ads up with big heart, inteligence and force.
He arrived at Reflex from Beovuk, a small Belgrade club famous for it`s great work with youngsters. When Milojević went to Budućnost it was the greatest transfer in the near history of Yugoslavian basketball. In his first season in Podgorica he won the championship and the National Cup. He didn`t win trophies with Železnik. Recently Milojević was awarded by Croatian daily newspaper “Sportske Novosti” as the Most Valuable Player of the 2003/04 Goodyear league.
VESELIN PETROVIĆ
Anybody who saw Veselin Petrović play, even for just one time, has to give him credit. Certanly not for flashy moves or incredible scoring or passing game, but there is absolutely no baller known that is ready to give so much of himself, go so far and beyond limits of his stamina. He is harsh, sometimes rough but always a sportsman, basketball player who was in his youth a junior champion of Yugoslavia in wrestling.
He won everything that can be won in Serbia and Montenegro. Both national Cups with Reflex, led Partizan as a captain to win two cups and one championship. Wherever he plays (now in Buducnost) Petrović is the absolut hero of the fans, a unanimous MVP on the stands. That is maybe the only true award there is. Because of his fighting spirit Petrović was given many nicknames, the most picturesque of all are the Policeman and Obelix.
He played for Reflex in two occasions: from 1996 to 1999, and then in the 2002/03 season. Although he became a national team player as Partizan captain in 2001, and is a great fan of the black&whites, everybody agrees that his best games were played in Železnik.
GORAN NIKOLIĆ
There are quite a few players in the recent times who walk throug their careers with so much dignity, calm and low profile as Goran Nikolić, long time captain of Reflex. As the old serbian saying goes – Water is quiet, but it melts rocks. Also known for his nickname Nik (born in 1976) was because of his discent for public promotion maybe the »best kept basketball secret« in Železnik for many years. Couple of years ago he grew into an ace able to compete with the best european centers in the Euroleague. He has a profound and deadly shot, incredibly soft hand for someone that is 210 centimetres tall.
Nikolić waited patiently to rise the first trophy as a longtime team captain. It finally hapened last year in Niš when the team of Vlade Đurović won the Radivoj Korać Cup. Nikolić is now playing for the turkish champion Efes Pilsen and is the only Serbia&Montenegro player with an angagement in the Bosphorus.
Also, forever in Železnik will be remembered the beautifull play of the center duo Goran Nikolić – Ognjen Aškrabić, then best high pair in the recent serbian basketball. Many used to say that they can play with they eyes closed. They got the knickname »The Twin Towers« under the famous Houston Rockets duet from the champion days – Hakeem Olajuwon and Othis Thorpe. |
