Zagreb is the capital of Croatia, the mediterranean and Central European country, which mainland measures 56.538 km2. Croatia has around 4,4 milions inhabitants while Zagreb has the population of 780.000 and lies along river Sava which divides iz into two parts: new Zagreb and the old town. It has a mils continental climate, due to its home mountain Medvednica (1035 m), which protects the town from cold northern winds.

Zagreb is the old Central European city. It has been developing for centuries as the rich cultural, scientific and strong commercial and economical centre. The city has a good geographical position, lying at the crossroad of many main European transitional and touristic between the mediterranean coast and Central Europe. When Croatia became independent in 1991, Zagreb became the capital, the political and administrative centre of Republic of Croatia.

Zagreb is also the business and University centre, the city of culture, art and entertainment. many famous scientists, artist and athlets come from the city. Turist may enjoy the baroque style of the Upper city, the picturesque market place, the diversity of products in stores and tasteful home cooking. It is the city of green parks and promenades with many options taking the tours in the surroundings. In spite of rapid development of economy and transport, Zagreb succeded to retain its beauty and the feeling of relexment it gives.
